    Gangs and Missile Fear

Gangs in Toronto got a heavy blow by police this week from early morning raids that took place across Southern Ontario and even a few in Quebec. Good. Get these corrputed youth off the streets in into rehab/social programs. We are not New York or some other huge U.S. city with a large number of violent gangs inbedded in the city. Last year was real bad for shootings in Toronto, dubbed "The Year of The Gun" by the media. My only worry is our justice system. Who should be allowed parol and who should be sent to prison for life? Courts are already swamped with cases, and with more than 1000 charges against some 140 some-odd gang members arrested, some of these nasty little buggers could be let back out on the street in no time. And how many man-hours/years did police put into these historical raids only to have most of them released and back into the gang pipeline?

     Shock 4
Now that's a heading, if any, that strikes fear into anyone who comes across it. That's the American fear based media for ya'. Let's pump some fear into you while you read our headlines, than we will get to the story. I actually felt my heart beat much, much faster than normal after reading the headline, because it really caught my attention. But that was the point of that headline....to immediatley grab your attention, scare the fuck out of you and keep on reading more. This is why this type of trash sells. Fear is a good profit base. Why not re-word the headline in much less fear-based fashion, such as "North Korea may test long-range ballastic missile"? Hell no, that won't sell. This article however, gives the immediate impression that North Korea is going to launch a long-ranged missile with one hell of payload right into your backyard.

Molotov Cocktail Attacks in my Town

"Police look for connection between fire, attacks

York Regional Police is investigating possible connections between a rash of early morning Molotov cocktail attacks and suspicious fires in Richmond Hill over the past two weeks.

Between April 29 and May 8, three homes in the Major Mackenzie Drive area between Bathurst and Leslie streets had Molotov cocktails thrown at them.

The explosive devices, usually consisting of a bottle filled with flammable liquid and a short wick, caused only minimal damage to the three homes, but could have been a lot worse, police said.

"Right now we are attempting to establish any links between the places have been hit and we can't really find one" Det.-Const. Brett Kemp said. "They appear to be random."

The homes do not appear to have been specifically targeted and random youth vandalism has not been ruled out, he added.

A number of suspicious garbage can fires have also been lit in the area and police believe they may be related, considering the locations.

Evidence of glass bottles, fuel and wicks were found at the scenes as well as an entire Molotov cocktail which did not ignite.

Det.-Const. Kemp said the devices carry the "potential for serious injury", warning residents if they find one on their property, not to touch it and contact police immediately." - The Richmond Hill Liberal

What kind if idiot(s) goes around and does this suff? A molotov cocktail is essentially a fire bomb. All it takes is one thrown at the right place and time to start an inferno and kill people. The fire would spread easily and fast, very fast. I would love to help the police and fire deaprtment, but because the locations and times are so varied, there would need to be a whole gang including myself watching over a large area.

God this really pisses me off. But that's okay too, because they will get caught.

    Canada Terror Warning

The initial flags went out to CERTIAN agencies like transit and other government related buisness on May 1st. Now comes the public statement. Are we ready? I don't think so.

    Quote from cp24.com :

"An Al-Qaida terrorist attack on Canadian soil is “now probable” according to the head of Canada’s spy agency.

Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) director Jim Judd, in his annual report to the minister of public safety, contends that while Canada probably isn’t the number one nation on the terror group’s hit list the possibility of an attack here is a definite possibility.

"The threat of further attacks by Sunni Islamic extremists and other like-minded groups continues, bringing with it elevated demands on the service's resources," says the report, which covers the year 2004-05 and was delivered last year to then-public safety minister Anne McLellan.

The report includes some of the strongest language ever used by a Canadian official in assessing the terror threat.

Judd insists the top CSIS priority is to prevent attacks from both occurring here and originating here.

"During the past year, Canada and Canadian interests abroad continued to be under threat from al-Qaida and its affiliated groups," he says.

"While the threat remains concentrated overseas, an attack on Canadian soil is now probable."

Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida terror network, which planned the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, included Canada in its list of target countries in both 2002 and 2004.

Canadian soldiers stationed in Afghanistan have come under attack from both al-Qaida and Taliban groups opposed to the U.S.-supported government in Kabul.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s national security advisor Stephen Rigby said this week that the government is being vigilant about possible attacks.

"We're just trying to increase the level of sophistication as to how we refine that consideration of the threat, where it might come, how it might come," Rigby said.

He added that Canadian officials have "no specific evidence" of a plot at this point."

     Gardening

This is what I have been doing in my mother's small garden all day. I am a little burnt out from all the sun, but it was well worth it.

Ian and I went and saw 'The Sentinal' with Kiefer Sutherland and Micheal Douglas. Ian was Kiefer's stand-in during the Toronto filming, which was all last summer. We were both somewhat disappointed with the plot, as there were a few things that were missing. I gave it a C for best effort. But I believe that the writter for the movie didn't really have his head wrapped around it. It was choppy in some parts, and there were times when there was too much going into a few scenes and too few details into another.

     In The Pool

I am very sick of this man.

    It's Tom Cruise.

Almost every media outlet I see always has something about Cruise, or more well know as "TomKat", and the articles that are written usually contain something about his conterversal religion, his wealth and power, his 'antics', and crap that I really don't care to read about. I think his ego is bigger than the balance in his bank account...and it's into the millions. I also think he has tarnished his acting career with all the 'antics' and bad press he's been getting over the last few years.

What really pissed me off was that Cruise told 9/11 firefighters and rescue workers to stop taking their medications and counselling sessions for Post Traumatic Stress, take vitamins and visit your local Scientology centre for help. As I have said before, Cruise is not a health-care professional, yet he was acting like one and still does. The NYFD was not pleased in the least. I have been through Critical Incident Stress, and it's hell, I kid you not. Maybe Cruise should spend some time with emergency service personnel and witness all the blood, gutts, brain matter, pick up some body parts from MVA's, try to revive a child with CPR, and watch/loose people who die from posioings, building collapses, smoke inhalation, seniors trapped on the top floor of a high rise building thats fully involved and hear their screams and pleas for help over and over, and over again.

I like this blogger's attitude and views about current events, so I decided to trackback this particluar blog because I don't have a lot of time to express my views and opinions.

Cheers to Huma, and thanks for reading my mind with this particular issue.

But how can we be sure he doesn't eat babies?

So it’s been a busy couple of days and though I’d saved some items to write about yesterday I didn’t get a chance to start a post so I’ll try to cover everything today.

In a move that is sure to have marketing-types rubbing their hands together with glee, a Santa Clarita county arson squad blew up a news rack thinking it contained a bomb when it was actually fitted with a digital music player designed to play the Mission: Impossible theme song when the door was opened.  Reminiscent of the day the Eaton Centre was closed after police discovered an abandoned milk carton that was ‘wired’…turns out the carton was part of the ‘Does your milk moo?’ contest which inserted similar devices that mooed when winning cartons were opened.  Aah, sweet paranoia, a marketer’s delight.

And for those of you who were worried about where Anna Nicole would get the money for the, ahem, ‘supportive garments’ she so desperately needs, worry no more because the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that the famous-for-no-reason blonde can continue the battle to get her paws on some of J. Howard Marshall II’s estate.  I’d like to know how much money Smith’s legal battle with her stepson E. Pierce Marshall has cost American taxpayers.  Why doesn’t somebody just write her a cheque and get the thing over with?  More importantly, who is paying her legal fees?!

In what is definitely my favourite news item of the day, GO (Government of Ontario) Transit officials have disabled electronic scrolling signs on the system’s 395 cars after a hacker uploaded the message, ‘Stephen Harper Eats Babies’ on trains between Hamilton and Toronto.  The signs are updated wirelessly via PDAs that can be purchased on-line for about twenty-five dollars.  The best part is that the GO’s system doesn’t require a password!  Sadly, they’ve clued in and will require a password from now on.  Sigh.

And it’s Tuesday which means Harper’s sent me the Weekly Review twice.  I’ve unsubscribed once…hope I’m not tempting fate.  Here are my favourite parts for your reading pleasure.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, released a video in which he showed his face and claimed that the Bush Administration had lied about its military victories. “America,” said Zarqawi, “will go out of Iraq, humiliated, defeated.”

So he’s either got a crystal ball, or a whole lot of common sense.

    Another War Coming?

    Looks like it.

"PARIS, France (CNN) -- The U.S. diplomat heading crucial talks on Iran's nuclear ambitions has predicted full European support for a U.N. Security Council resolution that would allow sanctions or even force."

Okay, so you have the U.S. pushing for sanctions to bomb Iran, and it's nuclear faciltiies because the States and other countries believe that Iran is going to make nuclear weapons. Not only will the States bomb the hell out of Iran, they will use NUCLEAR WEAPONS. A nuclear weapon has not been used in any kind of warfare for decades, and now Bush is going to blow that 'No Nukes' world treaty right out of the water, a treaty that took so many years for countires to agree upon and sign.

Russia and China want to solve this in a diplomatic fashion, and I agree. If the U.S. gets the support it needs to attack Iran, than Russia and China will loose their invested interests in Iran.

Since when did Iran become apart of the "Axis of Evil"?

I do not understand why Iran will not agree to have their nuclear program monitored. I am for Iran using nuclear energy for it's country and economy, but I also don't think that they should have nukes, because if they do, they will attack Isreal.

Hell, send me over to the sanctions, and I'll hit each and every representative from every country with a hammer, right on their heads, and try and knock some common sense into them.

But I have a bad feeling in my gutts about this. I think war is coming. Nuclear war.
